The antenna is pointed towards the satellite (see map, satellite is located in the middle of each colored ‘box’), so a line of sight to the satellite is required. Generally speaking Inmarsat works better if the satellite is higher up in the sky. Once a connection is established, it is very stable. Inmarsat airtime is economically priced.
