Description
We provide Inmarsat and Iridium maritime terminals at a low price. Rental terminals are only available in combination with airtime; the airtime SIM remains property of WorldSat – has to be returned by the end of the rental period. For rental devices we require a €100 security deposit and identification before shipping out. Please select the shipping date from Rotterdam and the latest date the equipment will be back with WorldSat with some allowance for postal service delays.
A handheld only receives calls when the antenna is out and connected to the network. If you value a stable connection and are in need of the possibility to receive and make phone-calls the way you are used to at home – you need a Fixed Terminal on your boat. A fixed terminal has higher data-speeds (for small GRIB-files) and offers the possibility to connect other devices: a normal or wireless phone, a fax, etc.
Iridium
Iridium offers the only satphones with truly worldwide coverage (including the north- and south-pole). They also provide coverage in situations where other satellite providers fail, i.e. in the mountains.
For rental purposes we provide you with an Beam RST-100 terminal:

- Intelligent RST970 handset that offers the possibility to send/receive texts and e-mails
- Data-cable (9.6 kbps data instead of 2.5 kbps)
- Connection materials / accessories (analog-telephone, cables, etc.) depending on your needs
- You can choose between a deck-pole fixed ‘GPS-style’ antenna or a small ‘GPS-mouse-style’ antenna that does not require pulling cables through your boat.
Inmarsat
Inmarsat provides near-global coverage: except on the north- and south-pole. The antenna is pointed towards the satellite (see map, satellite is located in the middle of each coloured ‘box’), so a line of sight to the satellite is required. Generally speaking Inmarsat works better if the satellite is higher up in the sky. Once a connection is established, it is very stable. Inmarsat airtime is economically priced.
For rental purposes we provide you with a Beam Oceana 800 terminal.

- 505 Emergency Calling facility puts vessels directly in contact with a maritime rescue co-ordination centre (MRCC) free of charge (only works when using a FleetPhone SIM card)
